MOTTO: Mt. Zion is: "A safe haven and you can get to Heaven from here"
On October 10, 1961, Beaulah Missionary Baptist Church was established with sixteen members under the leadership of the Late Reverend Benjamin D. Coes.
April of 1964, Beaulah and Mount Eagle Baptist Church, both with a few of their congregants merged with thirty-nine members through the direction of Reverend J. King of the Seaboard Baptist Association. Through this merger, the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church was born. The membership continued to grow under the faithful and capable leadership of Reverend Dr. Benjamin David Coes until his demise on March 12, 1984.
December of 1984 Reverend Otis C. Allen accepted the call to the pastorate of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Under his leadership new programs and work has been instituted and existing ones were recognized. The scope of services to the community and the state have increased as well as the total membership.
Many improvements to the church were made and many more are in process. Such improvements include but are not limited to: a new Pastor's Office, Fellowship Hall, and the implementation for remodeling and new additions to the existing structure. Central Air/Heat has been installed in the Fellowship Hall and an additional cooling system was added to the Sanctuary. These much needed improvements are a result of Pastor Allen's fervent preaching and strong biblical teaching.
On July 31, 2013 Mt. Zion called Rev. Dr. James B. Darling to carry the Pastoral Leadership to continue building to higher heights. Rev. Dr. O. C. Allen is now Pastor Emeritus.
Since history is still being recorded, let us give praise and thanks as we continue to labor with God. As we take inventory of the past and present, there is no reason to doubt the future. For Jesus is still Lord and to Him be the Glory!
